Application Process & Requirements

For International Students

Applying to study at Excelsia College is easy. You can apply directly to the College yourself or go through a registered agent.

Step 1: Select a course 

The first stage of applying to Excelsia College is to select the course  you wish to apply.

Step 2: Check admission criteria

Step 3: Gather the required certified documents

International applicants must provide certified copies of all the required documents when you submit your application.

A certified copy is a photocopy of an original document that has been endorsed (signed, dated and accompanied by an ink imprint stamp) by an authorised authority who states that it is a true copy of the original document. Authorised authorities include:

  • Justice of the Peace/relevant legal authority
  • Police officer, accountant, minister of religion, medical practitioner, legal practitioner, School Principal
  • An Excelsia staff member can also certify documents only if they have cited the original document.

Required documents

Copy of Passport or birth certificate or citizenship certificate. For more information please check passport.gov.au

  • Academic transcripts
  • Grading system descriptions
  • Award certificates

You will need to provide copies of your academic IELTS results or other recognised English test results.

If your qualification documents are issued in a language other than English, you must also provide a copy that has been translated to English and submitted by one of the following accepted authorities:

  • An official and accredited translator
  • A person of authority at the issuing institution.

You may be required to provide additional information with your application, depending on which Excelsia course you choose. The courses requiring supplementary information are:

Step 4: Complete application form

Please read the form carefully, complete all the fields and attach all the documentation listed in Step 3.

Step 5: Apply  

Once you submit your application Excelsia staff will contact you within days to confirm receipt and talk through the next steps in the process.

If the applicant is successful they will be issued an offer letter and a written agreement. Students will need to respond to the offer within 6 weeks. At this point, applicants are welcome to apply for Credit or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if applicable.

Applicants may defer their offer to a later semester to start their studies. A weblink will be sent to applicants if they wish to defer their start date.

Fees and charges are included in the offer letters and can also be viewed on the College website.

Please keep in mind that under the privacy legislation, Excelsia College can only communicate with the applicant about their application, and not with family members or other representatives unless authorised by the applicant.

Undergraduate

To study an undergraduate course at Excelsia, you must satisfy academic entry requirements and English language proficiency requirements. You must also meet specific course prerequisites. Check the individual entry requirements for your course on the courses section of the website.

Postgraduate

If you are interested in a postgraduate course, you must meet the educational or life experience requirement  and show English language proficiency. You may also be required to meet specific course prerequisites. Check the specific requirements for your course.

Additional requirement

Some courses may have additional entry criteria such as an interview or an audition. Please check the specific course to find out whether there are additional requirements.    

Excelsia College requires all international students from a non-english speaking countries to provide approved evidence of English language proficiency to meet the requirements for admission. The approve list of tests and minimum requirements are listed below. The test must have been undertaken within two years of application.

Other ways of demonstrating English Language Proficiency

  • Approved language courses within Australia: successfully completed no more than 2 years prior to your commencement at Excelsia College.
  • Tertiary degree studies undertaken in Australia: Successful completion of 2 years of an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree level study at a recognised university in Australia.
  • Tertiary degree studies taught in English outside Australia: Successful completion of at least 2 years full-time of an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree level study at a recognised university in Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom or the United States of America.
  • Residency of an English speaking country: If you have lived in Australia or another English-speaking country for 10 years or more.

Once applicants have been sent an offer, applicants have two weeks to accept their offer. This is done online and a confirmation will be emailed back to the applicant. At this point, applicants are welcome to apply for Credit or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If you are eligible for CRL, you may be exempt from completing some units and you may be able to finish your degree in a shorter amount of time.
